A ten-day chamber music and cultural arts festival based in the medieval city of Siena, Italy, the heart of Tuscany. Luci Toscane welcomes both university students and professional musicians: Strings (Violin, Viola, Cello, & Contrabass). *Music is selected from standard chamber music literature with opportunities for musicians to perform in small ensembles.

Masterclasses & Concerts

  • Festival concerts will be held in Siena and surrounding areas.
  • Rehearsals will be held daily with ample opportunity for individual practice and preparation.
  • The music course will include featured masterclasses by faculty and guest artists and are open to all festival participants.

Musicians interested in performing for these classes are selected by audition at the start of the festival by the Luci Toscane faculty.

Italian Language & Culture Course
(Corso di Lingua e Cultura Italiana)

  • Luci Toscane offers an Italian Language and Culture Course taught by a native certified Italian language professor.
  • In addition to classroom instruction, the course includes excursions to various Tuscan cities including San Gimignano, Florence, and Montalcino.
  • A guided tour of Siena's famous local landmarks with a native Senese tour guide is included as well as a private luncheon at a nearby Tuscan villa featuring a historical overview of Siena and a Palio presentation.
  • Instruction in a living language environment is a key component and unique offering of the course. Italian Language and Culture Course participants are invited guests at all festival concerts presented by the Luci Toscane Festival Chamber Orchestra.
  • Intra-festival transportation provided


Festival accomodations include:

  • Breakfast daily
  • Rehearsal, practice, and classroom facilities

Lodging is based on double and triple occupancy. Upon request, limited single occupancy is available at an additional cost.

Meals that are included in the festival programming are provided daily just steps away from the festival base. Language and cultural course meals are provided on excursions outside of Siena.
